Mohamed Firhan Abdul Salam
STB Area Director, Indonesia
Mohamed Firhan Abdul Salam joined the Singapore Tourism Board in 2009 and assumed the position of STB Area Director, Indonesia based in Jakarta on 2 September 2019.
This is his third posting to Indonesia, with the first stint as posted manager in Jakarta from 2012 to 2014. He was then posted as Area Director, Middle East and Africa (based in Dubai) from 2014 to 2017. He was then tasked with the opening of STB’s latest Regional Office in Surabaya covering East Indonesia as its Area Director, Indonesia based in Surabaya from September 2017 to September 2019.
In the regional offices, Mohamed Firhan is heavily involved in both marketing and business development work.
Mohamed Firhan was instrumental in developing the Indonesia Market Strategy, outlining STB’s vision and interests in the market in the near to the midterm horizon. He has been involved in various projects across verticals like MICE, Cruise, Education and spearheaded marketing campaigns in the regional offices.
Before his overseas stint, he was in the BTMICE division where he was responsible for business development efforts to create, secure and anchor globally significant trade events in Singapore for the urban solutions industry verticals to boost industrial development. He saw through the successful launch of inaugural CleanEnviro Summit Singapore and WasteMET Asia, growing the urban solutions portfolio of trade events in Singapore.
Mohamed Firhan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences degree (second upper-class honours), majoring in Political Science from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
