Ang Kian Peng
Co-Owner, The Social Kitchen
Kian Peng is the founder of The Social Kitchen. He is also the Director of Samsui Supplies & Services Pte Ltd. He manages Samsui Supplies & Services Pte Ltd. He is also in charge of CSR outreach for the Soup Restaurant Group. He helped set up the Social pantry with APSN and currently, Samsui provides 4,000 meals a day to underprivileged people.
Samsui is in the food processing business, procurement of raw materials for restaurants and FMCG. In 2016, Samsui won the President’s Volunteerism and Philanthropy Award and was cited by Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat in his budget announcement as an “inspiring example” of a company that is contributing back to society.
The central kitchen is manned by underprivileged people who prepare food for nursing homes, effectively incorporating the ‘available’ manpower from the underprivileged group to give back to another sector of society.
